Youtopia's Ven

The original appendix illustrated Youtopia's learning model as a Venn diagram — showing where a student's own lived experience, factual reference content, and peer-created content overlap to form the "init" chapters. That overlap is the core idea: kids don't learn about an issue from a single source, they learn it where their own story, the facts, and their peers' stories intersect.

A second diagram (originally apx1b.gif) hasn't turned up yet — flag it if you find it and I'll add it below this one.

The three circles

• Personal experience — what a student has actually lived through, in their own words
• Reference content — the factual, sourced material: statistics, case studies, expert material
• Peer content — what other students have contributed to the same chapter

Where all three overlap is where the deepest understanding happens — a student sees their own experience validated by fact and echoed by peers, rather than encountering any one of the three in isolation.
